old skool…soft & oh so sweet

Yes, I’m a digital photographer. And, No…I don’t want to get into the film vs. digital debate. But being primarily digital shooter doesn’t mean I don’t love some of the grainy, soft focus images of yesterday.

Lily’s whispering some good love to the little one.

I love these shots! Thank you Sarah & Lily for inspiring me to do some creative work with your beautiful images.

Have I said it again lately?…i love my job!

what should i expect? (FAQ- Children’s Portraits)

Enter a portrait session with an open mind, a desire to have fun, and the ability to let go and watch your children be children. Some questions you may have are awnsered here. 12ella_crop.jpg
  •  What should my child/I wear?

Let your kid be comfortable. I would recommend clothes without large graphic print or designs. Keep it simple.  Accessories like hats, etc are always fun…IF your child likes to wear them.  Please don’t force your child to accessorize or wear an outfit that they dislike.

  • Where will our shoot take place?

Anywhere!  We can do a shoot in your backyard, living room, the beach, Los Posadas, Bothe State Park, down Main Street… wherever!  Again, we want you to be comfortable and ready to have some fun.  I will travel up to 20 miles without charge, so be creative!  I find most children act more naturally in an environment that they are comfortable with.

  •   If it rains, do you have a studio?

Yes, I do have access to a traditional studio space, but I find that children do so much better in an outdoor or more natural environment. So if it rains we will choose an indoor location of your choice, get some umbrellas and play in the rain, or reschedule.  I am willing to get creative if you are willing to play along!

  •  Do you take traditional family portraits?

Yes and No.  I love the spontaneity / authenticity of children being children.  While I will gladly throw in some family shots if we are around doing a session with your kids or babies, I prefer not to take jobs that require mostly posed shots.  If you have a family activity that you want me to document, I would gladly do this for you, but if you need a traditional photographer for lots of posed shots of your family or family reunion, I can gladly refer you to other photographers that would do a fantastic job.

  • Will you take a boring, lifeless picture of my kid faking a smile at the camera?

No.  Please, don’t ask me to. There are plenty of malls that can do just that for you. I can assume that you are coming to me because you want someone that will follow, talk to, play with & crawl along side your little one…and hopefully capture the true essence of their personality. The end product should make you smile, cry, laugh…this is YOUR child captured in the moment.

  • What is your charge?

I have a sitting fee of $185 that covers all of your children for up to an hour. If you would like multiple family members in the photos as well, then the price is $200.

  • Do you take credit cards?

Yes!
